The Power of Attachment-informed Leadership
According to multiple studies, the #1 reason people leave their job is because of unhealthy work cultures and difficult relationships with their leaders and colleagues. Research has shown that unhealthy work culture is deeply rooted in the unresolved attachment history of each individual in the workplace, and the lack of a 'secure' Attachment Figure.
People don't leave organizations, they leave people. So, how we solve the problem of people leaving our organizations is less about offering more money, better incentives, and more benefits and is more about creating an atmosphere where employees feel safe, seen, and supported.
Relationships are the key to the success of any organization. A leader that doesn't understand the science of relationships (known as Attachment Theory), is like a surgeon performing surgery who doesn't understand anatomy and physiology.
Attachment is the science of the quality and development of relationships across the life course, and it serves as the foundation on which organizational culture is built.
Building on a professional interest in leadership and relationships in the workplace, Aric has spent the last several years studying a distinctive new approach to leadership based on the latest modern attachment and brain science, drawing on the work of some of the leading academics in this emerging area of leadership theory and practice.
